Cardiff University’s Centre for Community Journalism plays host to an important event in the renaissance of local news on Thursday, January 11.
The centre’s biennial conference, Building the Future of Community Journalism, is a free, one-day ideas exchange being staged at the Wales Millennium Centre.
Organisers say “the day will bring together community journalists, academics, policymakers, innovators and technologists to explore the future of the sector, celebrate its recent successes, hear from its most ardent practitioners, and share ideas, skills and tools to help build the next generation of community and hyperlocal news”.
The day will culminate with the official launch and first AGM of the Independent Community News Network (ICNN) the first representative body of its kind in the UK. The launch will take place in the state-of-the-art Welsh Assembly building (Senedd).
The event is being sponsored by Elin Jones AM, the presiding officer of the National Assembly of Wales.
